WTC Remembered (and Rock News)
September 12th 2008 16:24
Listen ... I was gonna do a debut site honorin' the recent switch to Feverr, but (and considerin' the importance of the day) whaddya say we take a moment to remember the happenings of seven years' time ago instead? Then we'll get on with the RockNews:
Y'know, there's never been a tragedy more firmly etched in the minds and hearts of Americans than the WTC attacks. And while we're still mourning the deaths of so many innocents, we're also proud of the firefighters, police, volunteers and K-9 units who gave everything they had to rescue and revive those who were injured in the attack. Little did they know at the time that, in the process, they rescued and revived an injured American spirit!
NOW ... ON TO THE NEWS:
Want HAIR?? No problem -- in fact, a revival of the musical, Hair, is set to open on Broadway early next year, according to the announcement that was made on Wednesday.
Y'see, the Public Theatre's outdoor production will complete its run in Central Park on Saturday, and is gonna move indoors to continue its run.
Is Chubby TWISTed?? Yep ... Mr. Ernest Evans (aka Chubby Checker) is at it again!!
He was interviewed on satellite radio Thursday, complainin' that he deserves more airplay than he gets! He came across as a whining egomaniac! Chubby claims
that all fast dancing (ie, that where there's no touching involved) was due to his phenomenal Twist records.
Now, he's already raised a ruckus about not being in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and demanded a statue on its campus in Cleveland. But, for most Rockaholics, it seems to be just a desire to get publicity and maybe regain some of his old "glory".
Problem is, nobody's buyin' it! Chubby, if ya wanna regain anything decent, here's a hint: Make some new, sellable music. Get out there and perform it. And ditch the ego.
Since I've just been notified of a little emergency (with my plumbing) that I've gotta (no, with the house's -- mine's fine ... I think ...), that's it for this session, yardbirds. Until tomorrow, remember:
Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music ... and I'll see ya on the flip side ....
